Recently we were asked to develop a pamphlet (directed at parents) addressing HSIE.
Supporting the pamphlet was a Parent Information Seminar (presented to our peers in tutorials) addressing our personal approach to teaching HSIE and to a particular stage.
I believe that 21st century learning encompasses many aspects that specifically correlate to HSIE and the skills embedded in the teaching of HSIE. I am also passionate about ICT integration and believe that it is an integral component of 21st century learning.
I have attached my assessment submissions. I hope that one day I can develop similar presentations to prepare to a real audience of parents in a real school context!

I excited to blog the updated progress of my Action Learning Project. I appreciate any feedback and welcome suggestions.
I am in the process of writing my 2nd set of milestones pertaining to the research and pedagogical relevance of my chosen topic: wiki use.
I have been trying to engage with like-minded (i.e. ICT enthusiasts!) teachers on Twitter and it has been both a new and scary experience however, I have had many great links referred to me as a result. I will embed one here so that I can come back and read it more thoroughly when I have less uni work to complete.
I am also excited as I finally received my DET interview and application feedback stating I am suitable for employment as a teacher in NSW schools upon completion of my university degree – woohoo!
As part of the Australian Government Quality Teaching Programme (AGQTP), many teachers in schools across NSW have undergone professional development by engaging in classroom-based pedagogical research titled Action Learning. The purpose of Action Learning is to encourage teachers to address learning and teaching opportunities or challenges encountered in their day-to-day professional practice by identifying issues and making decisions about future pedagogical actions. Action Learning involves cycles of inquiry followed by reflection and collegial discussion based on school-based partnerships and whole-school goals.
During my upcoming internship in Term 4 (weeks 1 to 6), I will conducting a mini-version of Action Learning.
Action Learning, as described above, is usually well-supported by the Government, schools and university mentors who work collaboratively offering support and extra funding. However, my project will be of a smaller scale, unfunded and supported through my university peers, seminar mentor and cooperating teacher at my practicum school.
I would like to take this opportunity to share the first milestones of my Action Learning project as I attempt to shape it in the following weeks leading up to my practicum. It should be noted that as the weeks pass, my project expectations may change as it evolves and develops. Whilst I have developed a general focus question to guide me in the shaping of this project, it is anticipated that this question may become more specific and/or change over time.
